Three days
in hemp.

You mix. You tamp. You build a section of wall. You leave knowing you can do it. These are not lectures — this is live construction, with an architect and contractors.

Workshop I

Wood, straw, hemp
and your hands.

I teach people whom I later see ten years on building their own homes. These are the best kind of students — those who never finished architecture, yet today build better buildings than most design offices.

The workshop lasts three days. On the first day, we talk, look at walls, and touch materials. On the second day, you mix lime with hemp and build a section of wall. On the third day, you watch as what you built together dries and becomes a home.

For whom?

For anyone planning to build their own home and wants to understand how it's done. For contractors who want to join the group of hempcrete specialists in Poland (there are few of us and we are needed). For architects learning natural materials in practice — not from a book. For parents who want to show their children that a home doesn't have to be from a closed pipeline, but from a living piece of land.

Format.

A group of up to 12 people. On a site where we are currently building something — each workshop is with a different project, because each workshop is also a real implementation. Your work becomes part of someone's home. This is not a simulation.

“My favorite moment is when someone feels wet lime on their hands for the first time. That moment changes their relationship with construction forever."

What to bring.

Work clothes that can get dirty. Gloves (we'll provide extras). Good shoes. Soap. Appetite — we feed you. We learn all day, in the evening we talk about what we've seen, sometimes with a guest (contractor, architect from Germany, materials researcher from AGH). We sleep close to the site — sometimes in pavilions, sometimes with neighbors in agritourism.

Dates and applications.

Workshops are announced for specific implementations, usually 2–3 times a year. Write to me to get on the mailing list. When the next date and location are set, you'll receive an invitation as the first.
